Defendant Billy Trey Bonner pleads guilty to child molestation, criminal attempt to commit a felony, false imprisonment, and enticing a child for indecent purposes
On October 8, 2025, Billy Trey Bonner of Carrollton entered a guilty plea to charges of child molestation, criminal attempt to commit a felony, false imprisonment and enticing a child for indecent purposes. He was sentenced by the Honorable Judge Dennis Blackmon to 30 years with the first 13 years to be served in the state penal system. The investigation was led by Detective Brandon Wilson with the Carrollton Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Wade Mason and Senior Assistant District Attorney Jared Parrish with assistance from Victim Advocate Samantha Simmons.
On June 10, 2024, officers with Carrollton Police were dispatched to a report of a sexual assault. Guardians of a 13 year old female told officers that Bonner had sexually assaulted her. The child was interviewed by the West Georgia Child Advocacy Center, which lead to additional evidence of on-going abuse for several years. Bonner was interviewed and made certain admissions and confessions to the crimes, which included intimidation tactics in an effort to persuade the victim from telling anyone.
We commend not only the Carrollton Police Department for the dedicated work they do in swiftly responding to crimes against children, but also the West Georgia Child Advocacy Center for giving children a safe environment to disclose physical and sexual abuse. Holding offenders accountable would not be possible without these agencies and their tireless pursuit for the truth.
